Snack at Charles Douglas Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina:
Apple chips
Snack at Charles Douglas Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina:
Jicama (shared w/sister)
Snack at Charles Douglas Airport, Charlotte, North Carolina:
Granola bar (shared w/sister)
Late lunch at Woodstar Cafe, Northhampton, MA:
Fresh-off-the-plane meal!
Soy chai latte w/cinnamon, twig tea (shared both w/sister)
(The soy chai was too sweet and spices were lacking. I preferred the twig tea over the chai, but it was quite herby and not as strong as I would have liked.)
Emily's Favourite: smoked tofu, cucumber, red onion, tomato, greens, sprouts, roasted red pepper spread & dijon on multigrain
(I liked it, but the sandwich was not anything to write home about. The roasted red pepper spread was really good though, without it, I don't think I would have enjoyed this as much.)
Monica's Thunderbolt: roast beef, horseradish cheddar, roasted red pepper relish, greens, mayo & dijon mustard on sourdough
Snack from Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium, Northhampton, MA:
Hot cocoa (shared w/sister)
(Always a must. This time, the lady who made my hot cocoa actually dissolved all the chocolate powder.)
Dinner at Haymarket Cafe, Northhampton, MA:
K.O.: kale, parsley, cabbage, carrot, pineapple, banana, apple, flax oil, turmeric, spirulina
(I thought K.O. stood for "knock out", but apparently it stands for "kale octopus". I quite enjoyed this, but the strong turmeric aftertaste was a bit much. My sister hated the aftertaste, and Emma said the drink was good despite its dirt-like flavour.)
Monica's Lucky's C: ginger, beet, apple, carrot, echinacea, vitamin C
(Super tart and sour. Definitely will help get rid of a cold.)
Primavera: roasted tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, lemon, pine nuts & basil (ate a quarter)
(This was so salty! I actually could not eat it, and I had my sister double-check, since I know I have a low-tolerance for salt. We ended up bringing this back home and giving it to Emma, since she enjoyed it. If she hadn't, I probably would have added hot water and more greens to dilute the salty flavour.)
Tempeh burger (ate half)
(My sister's order and also freakishly salty. The tempeh tasted like it had been marinated in soy sauce until it would bleed the flavour. Luckily, the bread mildly diluted the saltiness, but I desperately wanted to dunk the entire patty into a cup of hot water to wash off the flavour.)
Sample at Trader Joe's, Amherst, MA:
Cracker w/lentils
Late Night Nibbles:
Assorted salsa w/leftover chips from dinner
