16 March 2014

Breakfast from a fresh fruit juice stall in Brick Lane Market, London, England:
Fresh kiwifruit juice
(BEST STALL EVER. I literally dream about this juice. Probably the best thing in London.)
Lunch from an arepas food stall in the Old Truman Brewery at Brick Lane Market, London, England:
Mixed salad, arepa w/gucamole, salsa, fried plantains, black beans & spicy sauce
(Not very authentic, but it tasted good as a dish. I miss good Central/South American food! I did like the spicy sauce and gucamole combination though and how they fried slightly green plantains so they were more savoury.)
Samples from a Cuban BBQ pork food stall in the Brick Lane Market Food Court, London, England:
Some of Claire's fried plantains
(These were the sweet kinds. Good, but too burnt.)
Some of Claire's black beans & rice
(Nothing really special.)
Most of Claire's salad
Snack from a fresh fruit juice stall in Brick Lane Market, London, England:
Strawberry, kiwifruit, mangoes, honeydew, watermelon, cantaloupe & orange pieces
(Mmm. I love it when fruit is prepared!)
Snack from some street bakery stall (near the Beigel Bake store) in Brick Lane Market, London, England:
Banana chocolate cake (+pb, not pictured, shared w/Claire)
(Not bad, but a bit too sweet. Claire loved it though.)
Snack from Rinkoffs Bakery, London, England:
Toffee apple crodough (shared w/Claire)
(This "Cronut" is better than the original! Loved the toffee apple flavour, and the texture of this was incredible! I think this is how I should have felt when I ate the original back in NYC. Oh well. This was much lighter and less sweeter than Ansel's. There was an apple compote in the middle of the pastry, so every bite was an experience on its own. If only I could bring these back to my Cronut-lover friends...)
Snack:
Lemon & ginger tea w/chocolate digestive biscuits (3)
Sample from Alauddin Sweets (near the Whitechapel Station), London, England:
Tiny sample of this pistachio Bengali sweet that Claire bought
(You know when you're baking and if there's butter and sugar, the first step is usually to cream them? Well, that's what this felt like except with a nuttier flavour. I was not a fan.)
 Dinner:
Assorted veggies (shared w/Claire)
