Back in the Big Apple!

I am back in New York City! So excited to see everyone again.

Snack from Juice Generation - Upper West Side, NYC, NY:
Supa Dupa Greens: kale, celery, spinach, parsley, cucumber, romaine, lemon & pineapple
(I subsituted the apple for pineapple. Gives the juice a more "tropical" flavour and I'm not a big fan of apple juice in general.)
Brunch at Amy Ruth's, Harlem, NYC, NY:
Our waffles!
Kevin's Bishop Charles Reed, Gino's Rev Al. Sharpton and my Guy Woods & Shay Barnett
Biscuits
(These could have been better. Mine was on the dry side.)
Guy Woods & Shay Barnett: waffles w/cinnamon, bananas & pecans (gave 1/4 to Kevin)
(This waffle's texture was spot on: extremely fluffy, slightly chewy, nicely browned and just the right amount of density. Without the toppings though, the taste was a bit lacking. Perhaps the establishment wanted a general batter, for both their savoury and sweet waffles, but I would have preferred it if they had added something to the batter. Maybe some vanilla or use smaller eggs.)
1/4 Kevin's Bishop Charles Reed: waffle w/sauteed apples
Sample at Whole Foods Market - Upper West Side, NYC, NY:
Local honey juice cleanse
(From a little juicing company called Honeydrop. Their juices were expensive, but I'm all for supporting local shops if I like their products enough.)
Manuka honey juice cleanse
Snack at Whole Foods Market - Upper West Side, NYC, NY:
Black chia kombucha
Snack at Beard Papa's, Upper West Side, NYC, NY:
Spoonful of Kevin's chocolate lava cake
(Delicious. Check out that gooey ooey mess. Just needs a glass of cold almond milk.)
Green tea cream puff
(The green tea flavour was strong and the egg flavour wasn't distinct in the cream, so double points for this!)
Dinner at Katharine's house:
Salad, bread, broccoli pasta w/cheese sauce
(Thank you to Katharine and her family for letting me stay!)
Shoofly pie* w/whipped cream
(Never had a shoofly pie before, but it was kind of like the pecan pie sauce without any pecans. Definitely not a pie flavour I'd be able to eat a lot of. The flavour is almost caramelly.)
1/3 pumpkin whoopie pie*
(You can never go wrong with pumpkin. I'm not a big fan of the marshmellow-esque fluff in the middle though.)

*Bought the pies from Beiler's in Reading Terminal Market, Philadelphia, PA
